The Late Shift
Get your packages delivered when you’re actually home
Prewar dwellers, this one’s for you: Sure, you love your cozy walk-up--the charm, the history, the crown molding. The UPS missed-delivery slips? Total pain.
For those of us without a trusty doorman to guard our goods, Parcel is here to help.
Here’s the deal: Sign up online for free and you’ll be assigned a four-digit member ID number. Then, when you shop online, instead of giving your home address, input Parcel’s Varick Street address and your personal code.
The good folks there will sign for your latest Shoptiques binge and alert you via text message when your new gray booties have arrived. You respond with a preferred delivery day and time (a one-hour slot between 7 and 11 p.m., Monday through Friday) for Parcel to come a-calling.
There are no membership fees; the service simply costs $5 a package. The only restriction is that the package must be smaller than 22 x 22 x 15 inches and weigh less than 20 pounds (so maybe call someone else for that new flatscreen TV). Because it’s brand new, Parcel is available only within Manhattan for now, but expansion is on the horizon. Join the wait-list and you’ll be alerted when it’s an option in your ’hood.
Online sprees for all.
