The real south-of-the-border charm, however, lies in the year-round rooftop bar, where guests and visitors alike are enjoying spicy tequila cocktails (we're partial to the pineapple margarita, made with lime, agave nectar and a touch of Tabasco), acai-berry smoothies and sunsets from their own private cabanas.
Named La Piscine for its tepid, secluded pool, the bar can be reached directly from the street via an express glass elevator (no checking in or hotel keys required). Through October 15, relax in comfy canvas butterfly chairs, sample Mediterranean snacks like spicy fava beans and marinated octopus and try the house-infused hibiscus tequila.
Expect things to heat up after that: When the weather cools, glass walls and ceilings will transform the patio into an Argentine eatery that also serves cold-weather fare like fondue and hot sake, while the pool will become a hot tub complete with robes, slippers and sheepskin-covered lounge chairs.
