The Big Chill
Relax by the pool at King & Grove
One thing this city is not at a loss for is fabulous rooftops and swanky hotel pools. Here?s the problem, though: You can?t swim in any of them. At least not without RSVPing to some terrible bottle-service party crawling with 22-year-olds.
But you can enjoy a dip like a normal adult, in the daylight, at King & Grove.
All you need to do is make a reservation (the open spots go online a day or so before) and pack your suit (towels are complimentary).
Now, there is a slight fee. But considering it?s either Vegas 2.0 or amenity-less public joints out there, we?ll gladly shell out for a quiet, clean and food-serving oasis. Fridays through Sundays the going day rate is $45 a person. But Mondays through Thursdays, it drops to $35.
Our advice: Avoid the crowds by dropping in on a random weekday (you?re ?sick? next Wednesday). There is free WiFi should you need to take care of a little work between bellinis, and once you?ve had your fill of the water, pop upstairs for sunset cocktails on the hotel?s new rooftop lounge, Upper Elm.
Insane Manhattan skyline views also come free of charge.
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; King & Grove Williamsburg, 160 N. 12th St. (at Bedford Ave.), Brooklyn; 718-218-7500 or kingandgrove.com
