If walking into the new Tory Burch flagship makes you feel like you've entered the beloved designer's home, you're not far off. The store's entire look is based on Burch's actual apartment, from the grand, townhouse-like stairway to the chartreuse velvet walls and purple ikat benches.
But the real star is, of course, the haute-preppy merchandise that made Burch a high-end mainstay.
We began on the ground floor, which is devoted to accessories and purses. After ogling a fluffy fur trapper hat ($495), we found ourselves in a room full of to-die-for handbags. Our pick: the brand-new 797 (per the Madison Avenue address) suede-and-leather messenger ($525).
Next, we wandered up a flight to find ready-to-wear gems like the fall-friendly Kington jacket ($525) and wide-legged Prester pants ($525). Pair either with the rusty-orange Waverly blouse ($395), whose fringed tie can be removed for two looks in one.
Floor three is home to the shoes and evening wear--so, needless to say, we could spend eons there. Plus, assuming you can make it past all the Colorblock boots ($550) and Sequins dresses ($895), you're welcome to an espresso on the rooftop terrace. Not a bad reward for a solid day of shopping.
