Kiehl's has been known for its hard-working skin-and-hair products since 1851. And it's been known for offering great spa services since...last Friday, upon the opening of Spa1851 on the second floor of the new Kiehl's store at 64th and Lexington.
While you can stop by the just-opened digs for massages and body treatments, the star here is the facial: There are seven kinds ($145 to $225) designed to fight clogged pores, firm skin, reduce wrinkles or retexturize--add-ons like micro-dermabrasion, lip exfoliations and eye masks are also available.
All facials start with a personalized skin diagnosis (replete with an on-the-spot, hand-blended mask) and end with a relaxing scalp massage and hand-softening treatment.
In addition to the high-end services, we're also loving the vibe. Spa1851 is very utilitarian, apothecary-chic, with tin ceilings, antique leather chairs and nary a gurgling fountain in sight. They've replaced those unfashionable slide sandals with limited-edition Havaianas flip-flops, and they let you forgo the typical "happy place" wind-chime music in favor of your own soundtrack, courtesy of treatment-room iPod docks.
Got a few minutes to kill before your body polish ($140)? Don't miss the complimentary iPads in the waiting room.
