Produce shares are good in theory, until you end up with 10 pounds of turnips for the third week in a row (and you don't even like turnips). But now there's a new way to get the CSA experience, without the selection unpredictability or the long-term commitment: Farm Share's one-week, one-time-only box of crops.
A partnership between Norwich Meadow Farms in central New York and chef Michael Anthony of beloved Gramercy Tavern, the one-off box ($60, including delivery) is filled with a careful selection of Anthony's favorite seasonal vegetables--including Swiss chard, Persian cucumbers, hardneck garlic and two types of pole beans, to name a few--as well as organic eggs from the farm's pasture-raised chickens.
Plus, in case you don't know what to do with your Orient Express eggplant, Anthony includes simple recipes for the bounty (click here for a summer squash recipe).
After purchasing your box, choose from a handful of delivery dates (which begin today and run through the end of August). In other words, you can pick a week when you'll have some time to cook and behold as your own kitchen goes farm-fresh.
