GiftBar.com launches in NYC
We may be long past the exhausting giftfest better known as the holidays, but that doesn’t mean birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and other special occasions (like that little event in February) aren’t still looming around the corner.
So if you’re a little shopped out from the previous season, let us introduce you to GiftBar.com--a new company that offers gift cards to your favorite local mom-and-pop shops, sent from the comfort of your email.
Simply browse the selection of NYC boutiques and spas (like Kirna Zabete in Soho and Eve Salon in the West Village), choose a retailer (or give a GiftBar of Choice, which is good at any of the participating stores) and name a price. From there, you can either select a standard card template or customize your own from a range of chic design options (from chevron and watercolor to crocodile and herringbone). Then send off your card (via text, email or even paper) to your lucky pal.
The service just launched in NYC after a wildly successful debut in Chicago, so expect the list of vendors to grow even more in the coming weeks. And keep an eye out for your West Coast friends, as it’s also taking over L.A. soon.
But for now, shop local without ever having to brave Broadway on a Saturday.
