Twists on Tradition
PureWow and GE Cafe get cookin’
Alright, ladies: This is it. The all-star season of cooking is upon us. But as much as we love showing off our favorite tried-and-true recipes, we’re also suckers for throwing in a few fun twists.
That’s why PureWow and GE Café Appliances teamed up at The Kitchen NYC in Midtown last week--to get a jump start on all those holiday meals ahead. Using GE’s innovative convection ovens and dual-fuel gas ranges, former Momofuku chef Akiko Moorman demonstrated some fantastic recipes to shake up our Thanksgiving tables.
Rather than the standard (and possibly dry) whole bird, Moorman took butterflied turkey breasts and rolled them up with a simple herb spread for a burst of flavor. She then expanded upon the expected celery-and-onion stuffing, adding in spicy sausage, pancetta and fennel. And never would we have thought cauliflower gratin could taste so good, but trust us: The nutty undertones are worth the switch from potatoes.
To round it all out, we whipped up some seasonal cocktails like Baileys Spice Cake Martinis, which are a breeze to make at home. Just combine Baileys® Irish Cream Liqueur with Smirnoff Iced Cake Vodka for a sweet complement to all the savory goodness.
