We love a summertime picnic as much as the next urban woman who occasionally tolerates sitting on the ground.
But planning and prepping for one is often more trouble than it's worth. Unless, of course, you use Perfect Picnic, a new service that delivers high-end outdoor dining fare to city parks, benches and even rooftops.
Founded by two longtime friends (one of whom owns West Village restaurant One if by Land Two if by Sea), Perfect Picnic is kind of like a farmers' market gone takeout, offering artisanal foods promptly sent to your favorite grassy location.
Order as little as one hour before you want it, and a friendly bicyclist will deliver a tote filled with plates, cutlery and food for two ($28) or four ($50). We're particularly impressed with the quality of provisions (fresh baguettes, local cheeses, Salumeria Biellese cured meats, Liddabit sea-salt caramels), much of which comes from our favorite New York brands.
Perfect picnic currently delivers to all Manhattan locations, including the High Line, Battery and Central parks.
