Pop-ups, by definition, don't last forever, but we're certain the massive Wieden + Kennedy five-day fashion extravaganza, aptly named SHOP, will leave a lasting impression on Varick Street (and our wardrobes).
The Portland, Oregon, based advertising agency launched SHOP yesterday with 40 covetable labels (several of which are selling exclusive goods at sample-sale prices). The space, which is laid out like a mini-mall in Wieden + Kennedy's New York offices, is packed with local fashion talent: We fell in love with the limited-edition gingham- and madras-printed C.H.C.M. blouses ($125 to $150), printed silk dresses from the urban-chic line Rogan ($297) and Steven Alan's wear-with-anything cotton sweaters ($248).
We also fawned over some national treasures like nautical espadrilles from Soludos ($28), custom beauty boxes from botanical apothecary Malin + Goetz ($200) and delicate floral dresses from United Bamboo ($350).
Of course, no shopping experience would be complete without some sustenance: Refuel with steamed buns stuffed with hanger steak and chrysanthemum tea from Taiwanese sandwich joint Baohaus.
