A beachy pop-up from Kate Spade’s protege
Nothing says summer like Chance, the beach-chic brainchild of former Kate Spade creative director Julia Leach. Her flowing dresses, boat-neck tees and canvas totes are part Cape Cod, part St. Tropez--and now, they're all ours for the buying at a new Elizabeth Street pop-up.
The store, which is open through the end of the month, reminds us of a vacation home: Seashells, white flowers and fresh lemons provide a serene backdrop for the island-friendly clothes, while muted blue walls and a raw, white floor channel Nantucket.
Our picks for hitting the sand are the sporty tank dress, available in a variety of colored, nautical stripes ($95), Riveria-like cotton beach towels with "La Piscine" or "La Plage" embroidery ($65) and a classic beach tote ($150) roomy enough for our summer reads, swimsuit and sunscreen. We couldn't resist picking up a Hamptons-inspired sun hat by Brooklyn milliner Lola Ehrlich ($325) and a pair of bright, cotton espadrilles ($48).
But clothes aren't the only items for sale: Local jams by Maiden Preserves and artisanal Mary & Matt chocolate bars ($5) are up for grabs, and so are the brown vintage chairs ($800 for the pair) and fixtures decorating the space. Chance even offers bicycle delivery service in Manhattan on Fridays and Saturdays.
Get ready to soak up the sun in style.
