Madison Square Garden is and will always be synonymous with legendary events in New York City, but Brooklyn finally gets to set its own course in history with this week’s unveiling of the new Barclays Center (conveniently built above the Atlantic Avenue subway hub).
Beyond the Brooklyn Nets’ debut, though, what else can we expect this fall from the 18,000-seat arena? Here’s a handy guide.
October Following an eight-night (and sold-out) opening run from hometown boy (and partial owner of the basketball team) Jay-Z, a rock-solid concert lineup continues with major acts like Barbra Streisand (October 13), John Legend (October 29), Journey and Pat Benatar (October 30), and Smashing Pumpkins (October 31).
November The formerly New Jersey, now-Brooklyn Nets tip off what we expect to be a borough rivalry by hosting the New York Knicks (November 1). Later in the month, check out The Who (November 14), the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions featuring members of the gold-medalist U.S. women’s team (November 18) and Bob Dylan (November 21).
With the exception of Jay-Z, all events above still have tickets available, so nab them before anyone else finds out.
