Creatures of Comfort
Salon Ruggeri’s new townhouse location puts us right at ease
While Manhattan is never at a loss for amazing hair salons, we often find ourselves weeding through countless options, only to keep running into the same stainless-steel situation packed with loud hair-dryers and rows of clients.
So naturally we were pleased to discover Salon Ruggeri’s stunning new parlor-like space, which contains only two styling chairs.
Overlooking a quaint treelined street off Park Avenue, the second-floor salon takes advantage of its townhouse’s sky-high ceilings, original crown molding and tons of natural sunlight. Thanks to head stylist Greg Ruggeri’s interior-designer partner, Craig Longhurst, it’s also impeccably outfitted in crystal chandeliers, plush furniture, rich antiques, global finds and clusters of colorful wall art.
Oh, and our hair? Once we openly judged the book by its cover, we received a fantastic blowout from the Australian expert himself. We hear his specialty is coloring, though. When you’re spending hours in a chair, isn’t it nice to look at something a little less austere for a change?
