A new crop of must-try hotel rooftops
As sad as we are to see summer come to an end, now is actually the best time to get out and enjoy some alfresco entertainment. (Hello, cocktails and a skyline view.) So if you haven?t yet checked out this summer?s latest rooftop scene, here?s your chance.
Haven Rooftop at the Sanctuary Hotel
Overlooking Times Square, this glass-encased deck has been quite the nightlife hit, but we recommend sampling the light-bites menu (of tuna tartare and charcuterie) earlier as a pre-theater dinner alternative to all the surrounding generic Italian joints. 132 W. 47th St.; 212-234-7000 or havenrooftop.com
Gallow Green at the McKittrick Hotel
This faux hotel (home to the Sleep No More experience) recently added a quaint rooftop patio to its vintage-themed repertoire. To sip on old-fashioned punch in the garden-like bar, reservations are required, but show tickets are not. 530 W. 27th St.; 212-564-2243 or mckittrickhotel.com/gallowgreen
Renaissance New York Hotel 57
This Midtown mainstay has undergone several design upgrades, the latest of which is a new rooftop lounge facing the Chrysler Building. Out of respect for the guests, it?s open only Sunday through Thursday (from 5 to 10 p.m.) but is ideal for a post-work cocktail. 130 East 57th St.; 212-753-8841 or renaissancehotel57.com
