Since its February launch, we've been smitten with 19 Charles Street, the gourmet delivery service made for people who love to cook, but don't have time to shop.
The premise is simple, yet genius: Pick a recipe from the 19 Charles Street repertoire and when you want to cook it, all the fixings are delivered to your doorstep with a foolproof instruction card.
The site's recipes (new ones are posted weekly) include ingredients from vendors like Blue Ribbon Bakery, Murray's Cheese and Raffetto's, and their meat, dairy and vegetables are sourced from farms upstate. In addition, customers can purchase a la carte staples like free-range eggs and Ronnybrook Farm skim milk.
With the weather warming up, we're loving 19 Charles Street's latest delivery option: iced coffee. Cold-brewed with chicory, this strong, New Orleans-style brew is a welcome alternative to the corner coffee shop--where brews are often too watered-down.
Each 32-ounce bottle ($15 plus a $3 bottle deposit) yields about 10 cups of coffee and stays fresh for a week. We combine the naturally sweet concentrate with an equal amount of water and a splash of cream for the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.
Deliveries are made Mondays and Wednesdays in Manhattan and most sections of Brooklyn.
