New to You
The next level of secondhand
Dying for a Givenchy Nightingale tote? Or a classic quilted Chanel flap bag? Before dropping a few grand on one, consider secondhand first. No, seriously: You’ll save a few hundred dollars and no one will know the difference.
Trunk Show Designer Consignment is a new and incredibly well-edited shop that carries designer goods--all current, on-trend and in-season--at 30 to 60 percent off the retail price. Founders Heather Jones and Lenore Gomez have created a modern haven in Harlem. With black marble floors and the look of a sleek Upper East Side boutique, it’s a far cry from the crowded, dusty vintage shops we tend to associate with “consignment.” It feels more like closet swapping with your superstylish friend.
Some of the mint-condition pieces you might be able to snag include anything from a Marni blouse (about $80) to YSL Tribute platforms (about $600). Not feeling the trek uptown? You can still buy a limited selection of items online, but we highly recommend a visit to the actual store. You never know what you might be able to brag about tomorrow.
