Easier ways to await your flight
Between endless delays and lost baggage, catching a flight is hardly a stress-free endeavor. Luckily, new facilities at New York’s airports are making it easier to chill out before you board.
The Clubhouse Spa at JFK’s Virgin Atlantic Terminal The first stateside outpost of a beloved Heathrow Airport spa, this new JFK addition offers cuts and blowouts ($60 to $80) with Bumble and Bumble products as well as luxurious facials ($35) and Thai foot massages ($40) using the Dr. Hauschka specialty skincare line. To further de-stress, stick around after your treatment at the pre-boarding cocktail bar.
Zona Boutique at LaGuardia’s Terminal D Retail therapy cures what ails you at this new high-end LaGuardia boutique that sells jewelry, accessories and kitschy objects from big-name designers like John Derian and Harry Allen. It’s a good way to at least kill some downtime, and certainly more chic than your standard newspaper and coffee kiosk.
Virtual Customer Care Representatives On the high-tech end, we’re super excited about JFK, LaGuardia and Newark’s virtual customer care representatives, set to debut this month. The hologram-like women will dispense the same flight information and travel tips you might ask the flesh-and-blood versions--and always with a smile.
