A new Tribeca salon takes your nails to the next level
In a city of dime-a-dozen mani-pedi dives, Tenoverten is a diamond in the rough. Since it opened this winter in Tribeca, the luxe nail salon has attracted a steady stream of stylish customers who adore the uptown amenities and downtown prices.
Fashion-conscious career women and young moms on baby breaks commingle while enjoying manicures ($15-40) at limestone-topped tables equipped with iPads. From bookings to billings, the Tenoverten experience is totally stress-free. You can make appointments online, tip with a credit card that you keep on file, and get paperless receipts delivered straight to your inbox. Plus, the salon stays open until--you guessed it--10 p.m.
Co-founders Nadine Ferber and Adair Ilyinsky dreamed up their new venture while living in the West Village. "We'd get our nails done together and were always complaining about the little things that irked us about the salon experience," Adair explains, "So one day we decided it was time to take a shot at creating a better one ourselves."
That includes a carefully edited selection of polishes from Chanel, RGB and Uslu Airlines--Ferber, who also owns the women's clothing boutique Mick Margo, discovered the beauty brand on a recent visit to Colette, in Paris. The duo's polish color du jour? "How can we just choose one?" says Adair. "It's a tie between Chanel's Black Pearl--a green-tinged chrome--and NARS's Dovima, a tomato red named after the 1950s-era supermodel."
