Giulietta's mod platfrom pumps are a fresh take on a classic shape.
Though Sofia Sizzi is just a shade over 30, she has a résumé any fashion vet would kill for. After stints at Calvin Klein, Gucci and Donna Karan, the Florence-born designer recently branched out on her own with a debut line that has the craftsmanship of a master.
Named after Sizzi's mother, Giulietta consists of 1960s-inspired separates ($490) and adorable collared dresses ($1,150) that remind us of what Mary Tyler Moore would sport if she were in Fellini's La Dolce Vita Italy.
A self-professed Italian cinema buff, Sizzi channels Monica Vitti with a subtly sexy resort collection comprised of polka-dot garden dresses ($1,425), high-waisted pants ($790) and bell-sleeved shifts ($1,625). Her pre-fall 2012 collection has the romantic nostalgia of Il Gattopardo with flared trousers, floor-length cocktail dresses and snappy two-toned capes. In lieu of embellishments and prints, the clothes make a statement with luxe fabrics like wool, silk and cashmere.
While there's not a single garment we don't covet, we're nuts for Giulietta's platform shoes. Sizzi honed her cobbling skills under the tutelage of Francisco Costa, and though her heels have an old-school vibe, their oversized square buckles and vegan materials are decidedly fresh.
