Gimme Some Sugar
The candy store that makes gift-giving a breeze
Little-known fact about Team PureWow: We are obsessed with gummies.
It’s not enough that we nibble tiny bears and sugary rings on a daily basis, but for major life milestones, we also cover one another’s desks in them (or, okay, ship them in bulk).
So imagine our delight upon discovering a new shop that has 114 different varieties of chewy critters (um, including Super Mario Bros. ones) and doesn’t require you to fight with tourists on 59th Street. (Sorry, Dylan’s.)
Introducing Stieber’s Sweet Shoppe.
The new West Village candy store is lined with colorful tubes dispensing pay-per-pound goodies--from expected sweets (jelly beans, chocolate-covered nuts and the like) to nostalgia-inducing surprises. (Who else sells an entire tube of only the banana Runts?)
This place was made for personalizing gifts. For your next birthday-party obligation, pop in to create an assorted bag for $3.25 a pound. Or snazz up the packaging and buy and fill a clear paint can for $8 (flat rate).
Sure, you could bring another bottle of rosé, but take it from us: You’ll earn way more points with an unexpected sugary throwback.
