Summer camp for adults exists in Connecticut
As much as we adore the beach, there?s more to summer than lying on the sand--like zip-lining and tie-dyeing.
Enter Club Getaway, a weekend summer camp for adults. (Yep.)
The main things to know: It?s only a two-hour car or bus ride to the Berkshires. And just about everything is included. Expect private (and air-conditioned) cabins, endless amounts of surprisingly good food, free-flowing wine at dinner, nightly events (OK, you?ll need cash for bar drinks, but they?re cheap) and a serious list of daytime activities from which to choose.
If you?re starved for adventure, there?s hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, trapeze lessons and an aerial park. If you?re sporty at heart, get your fill of organized games (color war!), softball, volleyball, tennis and waterskiing. If you?d rather just relax, plant your behind in a tube on the lake. You?re free to do as you please.
We spent our July Fourth weekend at camp and were shocked by how much you get for the money (rates range from $344 to $504 per person depending on the weekend) and how varied the crowd was. All kinds--from single 30-somethings to retired couples--were represented, though demographic-specific weekends (?nice Jewish boy? alert) are still ahead.
