Thank God Netflix, iPads and Game of Thrones have made us feel comfortable owning up to our collective television obsession--regardless of whether you own a 50-inch flatscreen or not.
But for the computer-only sect, watching live TV (say, a presidential address) has historically been a challenge. Luckily, there’s now FilmOn TV, which lets you stream local network channels in real time.
Simply go to the site, choose “Local TV,” find the right channel and voilà.
Yes, it is a lot like Aereo but without the $8-a-month price tag. And no, it’s not the most easy-to-navigate design (subcategories would be cool, guys). But it is free, legal and really helpful when all you want to do is tune in to something special, like major breaking news, an awards show, a sports game or even just your fabulous friend’s DIY-decor segment on LIVE with Kelly and Michael.
