Nail art has come a long way from the hamburger motifs of the 2011 era. But as mainstream as the trend now is (and as much as you’d love to rock a set of talons like Adele's), you do still have to wear these things to work.
Get ready for obsession: Paintbox, a chic new salon on Crosby Street, actually makes it possible for us everyday ladies to pull off the look.
Dreamed up by a longtime beauty editor, the concept is to let you choose from a thoughtful lookbook of subtle, wearable designs. Single colors can get a shade-lighter tip (think: a French mani you’ll actually sport), graphic lines are minimal (and flattering) and decals are sophisticated (but, more important, tiny).
The artists on staff all have years of editorial and runway experience, so you can trust that the $65 gel design, which will last you a month (or the $35 single-color polish), is worth the occasional splurge.
We had a mangled thumb nail going in (stupid cab door), but our master painter was able to fill in the damage with a reconstructive gel, buff it smooth and allow us to flaunt some Adele-worthy digits.
