We?re quick to admit that we originally had mixed feelings about the return of crop tops. (What?s next, jeans without the waistband?) Until we discovered we could sport this, dare we say, flattering trend without baring any skin at all.
Here?s how you do it:
It?s gotta be boxy A looser, wider top that doesn?t hug your curves is the age-appropriate way to go. We prefer ones with short sleeves, like this style from ASOS ($122), but if you want to give the look a whirl now, and it?s still freezing outside, here?s a long-sleeved option from Warehouse ($71).
Go high-waisted Whether you?re wearing a full skirt or ?70s-inspired trousers, be sure your bottoms have a high enough rise to meet the hem of your crop top. This look is especially flattering on pear-shaped and curvy-figured gals as it brings attention to your smallest part (while still giving you room to breathe).
Wear it over a button-down It may seem strange, but if you want total insurance of your belly button never seeing the light of day, try it. This works best when your button-down is on the longer side and you pair it with a slimmer bottom (think skinnies or form-fitting flares).
