The Danes are experts at two things - design and cycling - which is why we're thrilled that Copenhagen-based bike company, Velorbis has come stateside.
Founded in 2006 as a response to the London subway bombings (which left Londoners without public transport or a decent alternative), the brand is all about fusing German engineering with Danish style.
And in addition to their many smart "gents" and unisex models, they've dreamed up the ultimate city bike for the lady-on-the-go.
Their sit-up geometry is both ergonomic and practical (giving riders a high vantage point from which to survey traffic) and they're outfitted with weather-resistant elements like fenders, chain guards and durable English leather saddles.
More importantly, Velorbis' bikes ? from the classic Victoria design to the new cream-and-brown Scrap Deluxe ? are gorgeous. Curvilinear lines give these rides a feminine flare, while embossed leather mud flaps, polished chrome bells and stainless steel rims add a sense of gravitas.
Chicago's Copenhagen Cyclery carries and ships the full Velorbis line, but you can also find the European imports at San Francisco's My Dutch Bike, LA's Flying Pigeon, and New York's Hudson Urban Bicycles.
