Nicholas Anderson and Julie Ho, the artists behind New York-based Confetti System, have become darlings of the art and fashion communities for bringing their blend of grown-up glamor and childhood nostalgia to galleries, public spaces and window displays.
At the center of their repertoire are their geometric piñatas covered in tiers of fringe and cascading tufts of metallic paper – a far cry from donkeys stuffed with penny candy. And now you can recreate their smart spectacles at home.
Their online shop sells the piñatas ($140-150), along with matching silk blindfolds ($110). Each shimmering orb is filled with hand-cut confetti and has a hinged door for hiding extra surprises inside – perhaps one of the duo's necklaces made from twisted and knotted silk.
When's the last time you whacked a piñata?
