There's little we love more than making good use of space (seriously, you should see our shoe closets), so it's only natural that we fall hard for things that fold, expand and tuck away neatly. Our newest such obsession: furniture inspired by the art of origami.
The Chair Dutch designer Douwe Jacobs may have designed the coolest collapsible chair ever when he created the Flux ($170), an elegant and durable seat that supports up to 350 pounds yet quickly folds into a storage-friendly envelope. Choose from a handful of poppy colors and cushions ($65) and hang your chair(s) proudly with a handy wall mount ($75).
The Sofa The hypermodern Cattelan Italia sleeper sofa ($4,700) is the most architectural daybed we've seen. In its upright state it looks like a work of paper origami, but when you open it flat, it could pass for a high-design raku platform bed.
The All-In-One Though it's marketed as a stool, the Kada ($900) is also a side table and a storage compartment. Plus, it packs totally flat. The winner of multiple design awards, the base of this space-saver twists to be angular or fully upright, and its "lid" can be used as a tray or cushion.
