New hotels hit Istanbul and beyond
It's official: Turkey has hit the travel sweet spot--that perfect balance of modern infrastructure, old-world authenticity and bang-for-your-buck value. Plus, with fall's temperate weather and off-season prices, now is definitely the time to go.
These three new noteworthy hotels offer a range of options from Istanbul to the Turquoise Coast.
The Istanbul EDITION This recently opened hotel offers the ultimate in luxury, including a three-story spa, a full-floor penthouse and in-house Cipriani restaurant. All perks aside, the space still feels decidedly Turkish thanks to an Ottoman tea-room-cum-cocktail-bar and traditional spa-side hammam. Rooms start at $400 a night.
The House Hotel Looking for a more intimate Istanbul experience? Consider this boutique hotel, which boasts a great location right near Taksim Square and breathtaking views of the Bosphorus. Built into a 19th-century historical building, the space has many old-fashioned touches like intricate molding and original marble staircases. Rooms start at $150 a night.
Amanruya The newest offering from get-away-from-it-all hoteliers Aman opens in December (though you can reserve your spot now) on the glamorous Turquoise Coast. Surrounded by a pine forest and olive groves, each of the 36 cottages (starting at $1,000 a night) has its own garden, pool and pergola, not to mention arresting views of the Aegean.
