We catch up with Neko Case
You might know Neko Case for her work with the Canadian rock band the New Pornographers. You might know her for her folksy-cerebral solo albums Fox Confessor Brings the Flood and Middle Cyclone. You might know her for her kind of hilarious Twitter feed. But if you haven?t yet familiarized yourself with this goddess of smart-lady indie, we implore you to get on the bandwagon.
Case?s new album, The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You, hits record stores (and, um, the World Wide Web) this week, and it?s definitely one to keep on steady rotation. It?s funny, soulful and by turns abrasive and sweet.
We caught up with Case to talk about her ah-mazing new single and the stuff that inspires her--from Herman Melville to the Cartoon Network.
PureWow: We can?t believe it?s been four years since your last album! We?re just as obsessed as ever with the new tunes, but we?re curious to know how you think your music has changed since 2009.
Neko Case: It?s leaner, I think. More straightforward topically, but I hope I get back to storytelling on the next one. That?s where the joy is for me.
