Flowers get an edge with chic splashes of black
Silver bells and cockleshells are lovely, but they're often too demure where style is concerned. So we were thrilled to see large-scale florals, in Givenchy's 2012 resort collection, offset with edgy, black backgrounds.
Off the runway, the "botanical noir" trend is blossoming on everything from serving trays to thank-you notes. This season, flowers are back...in black:
Boutique stationery shop Rifle Paper Co. is beloved for its whimsical cards and invitations. These black, hand-lettered thank-you notes ($16 for 8) are just the things to send your perennially generous Aunt (and they're so much nicer than emails).
Of course, there are plenty of ways to push petals into your wardrobe: Rag & Bone's floral camisole ($150) gives jeans a polished look, while Miu Miu's sequin-embellished, open-back dress ($4,105) is elegantly retro.
