Silver bells and cockleshells are lovely, but they're often too demure where style is concerned. So we were thrilled to see large-scale florals, in Givenchy's 2012 resort collection, offset with edgy, black backgrounds.

Off the runway, the "botanical noir" trend is blossoming on everything from serving trays to thank-you notes. This season, flowers are black:

In lieu of robin's-egg blue, Tiffany & Co. gives traditional serving ware a modern feel with this black, floral platter ($155) and oval vase ($125), both of which make unique hostess gifts.

Boutique stationery shop Rifle Paper Co. is beloved for its whimsical cards and invitations. These black, hand-lettered thank-you notes ($16 for 8) are just the things to send your perennially generous Aunt (and they're so much nicer than emails).

Anthropologie's Photoviolet bedding ($100 to $130) offers a beautiful contrast to an otherwise prim guestroom. The striking pattern stays soft with immense, Giverny-inspired petals.

Of course, there are plenty of ways to push petals into your wardrobe: Rag & Bone's floral camisole ($150) gives jeans a polished look, while Miu Miu's sequin-embellished, open-back dress ($4,105) is elegantly retro.
