Lady politicos (read: Hillary Clinton) have been rocking the look for years, but luckily for those of us outside the Beltway, the pantsuit is becoming increasingly democratized (and way more stylish).
In this second installment of our Spring Trends 2013 Guide, we?ll show you how to embrace the modern suit on any budget.
High The pantsuit of 2013 defies traditional standards when it comes to mixing, matching and color. Update your classic trousers with a touch of silk--we love these Kiarra pants from Joie ($238). Pair them with a strong-shouldered blazer from Helmut Lang ($460) or switch things up by replacing the jacket with a sophisticated vest ($325) from Theory. For a fun (albeit daring) kick, we?re swooning over Ralph Lauren?s turquoise suit jacket ($1,398) and pants ($698), but we also love J.Crew?s Café Capri pants ($148) and shell top ($150)--a perfect ?suit? for the warmer temps.
Low Topshop?s classic menswear-inspired trousers and jacket ($300 for the set) provide just the right proportions, while Club Monaco has gorgeous cropped tuxedo pants ($150) that pair well with this chic Zara blazer ($100). For a springy palate, try Calvin Klein?s cotton jacket ($130) and coordinating pants ($80), or get a little crazy with geometric pants ($70) and a matching jacket ($100) from Ann Taylor.
PureWow Tip: You?ve heard it a million times, but invest in professional tailoring. It will make you look taller, thinner and completely pulled together.
