Yasso Greek Frozen Yogurt Bars
Who says frozen pops aren't good in a snowstorm?

From novelty stores to John Stamos commercials, it’s clear that Greek yogurt has become an integral part of American, er, culture.

But while we’ve obviously eaten the stuff oodles of ways (mixed into granola, drizzled with honey, dolloped on fruit), we’ve never thought to stick it in the freezer… until we discovered Yasso.

Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt bars ($5 for four) have been around since 2011, but they’re only now getting the national distribution they deserve. And all we can say is thank Mykonos.

Caught somewhere in a delicious purgatory between ice cream and creamy sorbet, Yasso pairs the vaguely tart Greek-yogurt taste you know with natural ingredients like blueberry, strawberry and--as of this week--coconut for a result that’s luscious and surprisingly adult. Much like the unfrozen variety, the bars are fat-free, gluten-free and protein-rich. And each clocks in at less than 80 calories.

Yes, the name sounds vaguely like a birth-control pill, and yes, we’re traditionally suspicious of anything found in the “diet food” aisle. But we swear up and down that these things taste amazing--simultaneously healthful and like a proper dessert.

All they need now is a Stamos endorsement.
