Lotus Help You
New streaming services for yogis
You may be a blissed-out, balanced yogi, but sometimes schlepping to the studio in the dead of winter can seem as difficult as mastering a firefly pose.
Luckily, we’ve found two new audio streaming services that help you get the yoga experience right in your living room.
The Class Stream power vinyasa and calming meditation routines through your computer or smartphone with a hitPLAYyoga membership. The $20-per-month fee gets you unlimited access to hundreds of classes (five minutes to one hour) led by accredited instructors from around the world. Offerings are updated regularly, and a portion of the proceeds support worthy nonprofits in developing nations. Since the routines are audio-only, it does help to have some knowledge of yoga terminology, though plenty of beginner-level classes are available.
The Tunes What’s a sun salutation without a little tantric drumming? For those looking to properly set the mood, there’s Yogi Tunes. The new members-only streaming service ($10 per month) provides seamlessly deejayed sets designed to help you get the most out of your workout (think New Age, electronic and Indian-inspired). After all, no matter how inspired your gym playlist may be, we’re pretty sure nobody ever achieved inner shanti while listening to Rihanna.
