Memorable recipes from PureWow’s kitchen
We hate to play favorites, but of the dozens of recipes we’ve featured in our Recipes edition in 2012, a few rose above the rest. We’ve collected the top hits here so you can add them to your recipe box, in case you missed them the first time around.
Starters A duo of dips won our approval this year. We have whipped up bold pepita-habanero dip for weekend fiestas and now keep a stash of Farmshop’s silky avocado hummus on hand for afternoon snack attacks.
Main Dishes We went mad for meat-free Mondays when we tried this satisfying cauliflower pasta and followed it up with another vegetarian hit, Sprouted Kitchen’s wholesome Moroccan stuffed squash. When the cold weather arrived, a rustic sausage and lentil dish from a Long Island general store satisfied our hankering for belly-warming comfort food.
Sweets We might as well deem this the Year of the Cake. We lingered over Kir Jensen’s dense almond tea cake, savored slices of a blogger’s caramel apple upside-down cake and devoured squares of retro chocolate cake. When we tired of cake, we rocked the oat with spice-laden granola and turned our favorite junk foods into Hedy Goldsmith’s over-the-top “Junk in da Trunk” cookies.
