Brighten your wardrobe with ikat prints
It's one of the oldest techniques in textile patterns, but this season ikat is both modern and age-appropriate. The trick to wearing it is to keep the rest of your outfit within the same color palette for a classic (that is, not chaotic) look.
These styles don't have a thread out of place:
Under her Theodora & Callum line, Stefani Greenfield (of Scoop NYC fame) has created a gorgeous-yet-practical hot pink beach tote ($298) with a clever removable zip-pouch to keep valuables sand-free. We're also mad for her Mykonos-inspired lace-up wedges ($395).
With its beaded suede tassels, Calypso's wear-it-a-million-ways ikat sundress ($195) is the only dress we'll need for vacation. Take it from the beach to the balcony with a white shawl and gold bangles.
The pencil skirt gets a playful makeover in Banana Republic's silk ikat version ($80), available in orange or turquoise. The cut and material make it office-appropriate, while the bohemian pattern is just right for post-work drinks.
J.Crew's preppy chino short gets a stylish pop of color with this purple ikat print ($60). Made from 100 percent cotton and with a relaxed fit, they're as comfortable as can be.
