Recipes for Greatness
New cookbooks from beloved bloggers
We’re suckers for a rags-to-riches tale in which a talented, hardworking woman starts a blog, amasses an army of loyal readers and then scores a cookbook contract. So it’s no surprise we were among the first in line for these two new blog-to-book titles, which offer engaging narratives and enticing recipes just in time for the holiday season.
Small Plates & Sweet Treats In her new cookbook, Spanish-born author Aran Goyoaga welcomes us into her charming home and shares informal yet elegant recipes for seasonal gluten-free small plates and desserts. The book’s wheat-free niche will win it legions of bread-eschewing fans, though recipes like colorful autumn panzanella salad and spiced pear and brown butter muffins promise to please gluten eaters as well. We’ll be making those muffins for breakfast on Thanksgiving Day.
The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook Self-taught cook Deb Perelman’s award-winning blog is the first place we visit when we want to make a superior roast chicken, birthday cake or just about anything that’s truly worth our time and effort. Her new cookbook offers up practical recipes for dishes like a deeply satisfying mushroom bourguignon. Plus, it features the sassy, instructive voice that’s become a hallmark of Perelman’s approachable style.
