In some circles, A.I. stands for one futuristic subject, but for us, those initials represent the cutting-edge stilettos of Alejandro Ingelmo, who last week launched his own e-boutique and made his creations available en masse.
Born and raised in Miami, the fourth-generation shoemaker comes from a family of footwear virtuosos. His grandfather first started Ingelmo Shoes in Cuba, and Alejandro continued the tradition by launching his eponymous line in 2006. With two CFDA nominations for Swarovski Accessory Designer of the Year and a 2008 VOGUE Fashion Fund nomination, Ingelmo--whose shoes feature equal parts edge and elegance--has an appeal and aptitude matched by few in his field.
Ingelmo's e-boutique has something for every taste and toe: We love the basic lines and structured silhouette of the Anni gladiator sandal ($450), the sky-high heel and daring snakeskin on the Angie slingback ($450) and the asymmetrical suede-and-leather latticework of the avant-garde Nighthawk bootie ($895).
With the online shop's handsome men's section and a place to preorder shoes from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection, it will behoove anyone with fashion-forward feet to check out the site.
