Katie Maennle’s hip and Southern home goods
Since opening her eponymous retail shop last year, designer Katie Maennle has been wowing Austin locals with her bold, poppy furniture, home goods and clothing--an aesthetic she likes to think of as preppy charm gone daring and graphic.
And now we non-Texans can get the look, too, thanks to her just-launched online store.
A North Carolina native, Maennle is well versed in Southern style, and many of her furniture pieces are classically Antebellum in shape, if quirky and modern in print and color. Take her pretty Lilly Sofa ($2,450), for instance, which could seem very Scarlett O'Hara if not for the bold and saturated hot pink hue.
Likewise, the Birdcage ($2,150) and Hamilton ($1,650) chairs combine old-fashioned elegance with slick, modern coverings. Plus, should you decide you like a piece's style but not it's fabric, Maennle's team will re-upholster at no extra charge.
In addition to the gorgeous furniture, we love the store's stunning accessories, like these kicky throw pillows ($95 a pair) and bespoke, monogrammed Lucite trays ($105 to $125), which make for an excellent hostess or shower gift.
Better yet: The site will soon carry Maennle's bright, flowing clothing line--as good a reason as any to add it to your bookmarks.
