Triposo puts the world on your phone
Your dog-eared Fodor’s might have sentimental value, but be honest: It’s a pain to carry and often out-of-date.
For a free and paperless alternative, we’re loving Triposo, a new worldwide travel guide for the iPhone, iPad and Android.
Available for more than 20 international cities, 60 countries or the world at large, Triposo pulls top-ranking travel info from around the Web into one searchable app filled with maps, sightseeing suggestions, restaurant recommendations and all the other things you’d find in an old-fashioned guidebook.
The coolest part, however, is that while the information is constantly being updated, you don’t need an Internet connection (or pricy roaming charges) for it to work. Just download before you hit the road, then pull up the guide in offline mode.
That said, if you are able to locate Wi-Fi, Triposo will make more accurate recommendations based on things like your exact location and the current weather conditions.
We downloaded the Peru guide in preparation for a forthcoming trip and were pretty impressed with the results. We found a hotel on the handy Lima map, learned a bit about the city’s history and even highlighted a few museums to check out.
