Though we’ve never seen the world of footwear in black-and-white, we sure do love simplicity. That’s why we’re head over heels for Chromatic Gallerie, a back-to-basics (and totally colorful) new line of pumps that is as creative as it is practical.
Think of Chromatic Gallerie as one elegant shoe ($88) with a gazillion permutations--by which we mean customizable colors (ranging from sensible gray to neon yellow), materials (leather, suede, faux fur), heel heights and widths.
Founder Chris Luhur says the concept grew from her own frustrations with finding a pair of well-made pumps that were actually walkable. But while we appreciate her dedication to comfort--each Chromatic Gallerie shoe features an extra-cushiony foot bed and slip-free sole--the coolest part is definitely the mix-and-match element. The traditionalist, for instance, might select a matte-black pump in “Just Say Noir.” The trendsetter, on the other hand, could opt for a sexier pick in rich cobalt suede, pumpkin orange or matte berry pink.
For now, heel heights are either two or three inches, but we hear a four-inch option is coming soon (as are glossy patent leathers).
Our current color crush--“Wishful Pinking” in a demure two-inch heel--is the perfect complement to summer florals.
