Spring’s most sophisticated knapsacks
We stopped trying to pull off the schoolgirl look a long time ago (PureWow credo: knee socks should not be worn by anyone over twelve). But there's something to be said for the shoulder-saving functionality of an old-fashioned backpack.
Below, our favorite new knapsacks that are anything but childish:
Leather Who says you need to relegate arm candy to a single arm? The Laetita Dartagnon ($995) and Marc by Marc Turnover ($430) backpacks are just as fashionable as any purse. The Turnover even doubles as a one-shouldered messenger bag.
Wool Tweed season may be over, but the flirty bow on Alexander Wang's Sydney bag ($605) makes it playful enough for springtime. Likewise, this super-light Madewell offering ($356) is as good for around-town errand-running as it is for world travel.
Canvas With its smart, leather buckles and indigo hue, this A.P.C. backpack ($225) is like an English schoolbag all grown up. Meanwhile, we love the thoroughly modern design (and bright mustard color) of this many-pocketed Mismo satchel ($500).
Straw We dare you not to fantasize about Parisian picnics and Eat, Pray, Love-style bicycle jaunts when wearing this adorable Brook Farm Market Backpack ($65). Baguette and lavender sprig not included.
