The next time you're lounging poolside at your fabulous Turks and Caicos time-share, the last thing you want to be worried about is your pup's well-being. For those averse to kennels but remiss to spend oodles on a pricey sitter, there's now another option--Dog Vacay.
This new website is sort of like Airbnb for canines: Fellow dog owners or enthusiasts offer up their homes for a nightly rate (as low as $15), and you, in turn, select a suitable, local host with which to leave your precious pooch.
If the thought of dropping Fido with strangers feels wrong, fear not: Most sitters have been pre-vetted by the site (you'll know the ones who aren't) and post user testimonials along with pictures of their own furry friends. Plus, you can always propose a "meet and greet" before committing.
Once you do leave town, you can arrange for daily photo updates and take solace in the fact that should something go wrong, Dog Vacay offers both insurance coverage and emergency vet support.
Aside from the cage-free and money-saving angles, we love the idea of leaving our little guy in a real home with other animals.
Hey, it just might be a vacation for him, too.
