An online source for creative hosiery
They're warm. They're sexy. They fit you no matter how many Christmas cookies you've eaten and care not if your legs are smooth or stubbly. In short: We love a good pair of tights.
We also love Cristina Casciano-King, the founder of Peek Brooklyn and purveyor of one of the coolest, most diverse online hosiery collections we've seen.
Casciano-King's two-month-old Web shop (which she manages out of her Brooklyn home) is devoted to all things leg wear, from the timeless and sturdy to the patterned and quirky.
In addition to stateside staples, Peek sells a number of hard-to-find international brands like House of Holland and Philippe Matignon. As a result, the offerings are anything but the sheer/nude/ribbed fare you'd find at your local department store.
We're obsessed, for instance, with these French-made graphic tights ($60), which turn a simple dress into a statement outfit, as well as these "poker face" hold-ups ($19), which might be the closest we ever get to showgirl chic.
Click through categories like seamed stockings, floral prints and footless leggings, and be sure to check out the impressive vintage selection--which is fun to browse even if you're not a garter-belt enthusiast.
