Prada’s hot new monogrammed shades
Ever wished your designer sunglasses had a little more personality? Neither did we--until we saw Prada Private, a new line of customizable monogrammed shades ($365).
For anybody who has ever "accidentally" detached her glasses' arm from its frame, the concept will be familiar: Removable arms unscrew and allow you to plug in a one- or two-character insert. These can be everything from your most dignified initials to a pair of bling-y $$ signs--or both, since you can purchase extra icons for multiple swap-ins.
This might sound gimmicky, but the look is surprisingly sophisticated. We love the rounded, oversized proportions of both the men's and women's models--which are available in black and tortoise, with more colors on the way--and the monogrammed letters' retro type-writer font.
The glasses are sold in a handful of Prada boutiques, but the Italian design house has also partnered with Sunglass Hut, which sells them in stores and online, where you can play around virtually with the symbol and letter inserts to see what best suits your style.
