What to do with your old beauty containers
You may be a pro at squeezing out that final glob of conditioner, the last smear of mascara and the remaining drops of perfume, but do you have an environmentally responsible solution for trashing the empty container? Now you do, thanks to TerraCycle's new Beauty Brigade.
Since 2001, TerraCycle has worked to enable responsible disposal and repurposing of difficult-to-recycle products: diapers, cork, laptops, etc.
The new Beauty Brigade, however, is the first time they've tackled the cosmetics-and-personal-care market--an endless source of bottles, tubes and dispensers, as any well-groomed woman knows.
Here's how it works: Collect enough empty containers to fill a shipping box or bag (preferably an old one that you're reusing). Next, print out a prepaid mailing label (or request to get one sent to you) and drop your package at any UPS location. Upon receiving your beauty waste, TerraCycle will repurpose it or melt it down into usable raw materials.
Plus, for every item you send, you'll be credited two TerraCycle points, which can be redeemed for donations to a charity of your choosing.
Who knew empty lipstick tubes could make you feel so warm and fuzzy?
