A new line of handwoven kicks
As every SoCal lady knows, having a solid--and stylish--pair of flats in your car is a must. Those four-inch stilettos will only get you so far, amiright?
But with the new shoe collection from Los Angeles-based accessories designer Carrie Forbes, it might be time to ditch the heels altogether. (Well, at least until Labor Day.)
Forbes, who had a hit line of high-end woven handbags in the ’90s, is back with slides ($285), loafers ($295), ballet flats ($276) and even lace-up oxfords ($325) made of Moroccan raffia--that perfect warm-weather material fashioned from the strong, stringy part of palm fronds.
You have your choice of rich neutrals (black, beige, blue and taupe), all of which manage to be classic yet fresh-looking. And they’re constructed to last: The raffia is handwoven and treated with oil and water to make it soft yet strong. Plus, leather soles and padded insoles make walking a pleasure.
Imagine these slides worn with jeans and a white tee, or swapping your usual espadrilles for loafers and pairing them with a striped shirt and a pencil skirt. Versatile, unique and super-comfy--these Carrie Forbes shoes are flat-out amazing.
