You haven?t seen your besties since the holidays, and another happy hour at a crowded bar just won?t cut it.
May we recommend Paint Nite?
Half cocktail party, half art class, this Wednesday night series ($45 a person per session) at The Beverly Hilton seems like a stroke of genius to us. You don?t need any painting experience; an instructor is present to offer tips on technique and color choice, as well as much-appreciated praise.
We headed to the hotel bar and took a seat at group tables stocked with the essentials: acrylic paints, canvases, brushes and bright green smocks (you know, to keep our new silk blouse clean). Then we ordered a bottle of Chardonnay from Napa to get the creative juices flowing. (The Hilton offers a rotating selection of bottles at half price.)
Each week there?s a different masterpiece to recreate, and ours was Fireflies, a forest scene set at twilight and dotted with lightning bugs. Artistic freedom is encouraged: One gutsy patron painted hers in different shades of pink.
Wednesdays through May 28 at The Beverly Hilton, 9876 Wilshire Blvd.; 310-285-1307 or paintnite.com
