The oil we’re stealing from our tattooed friends
It’s a Los Angeles koan: Are there more tattoos here than anywhere else, or does it just seem that way because we’re always running around with bare arms and legs?
Whatever the case, a Malibu company has formulated a salve to protect body art. Undaria Algae Oil (6 oz., $38) blends mineral-rich seaweed with sunflower, citrus and cypress oils to moisturize, firm and tone skin. It feels great to put on, since it’s slurped right up by your skin, leaving behind a faint aroma of lime and grapefruit peel.
One of our inked friends loves the way the oil instantly makes the reds and greens of her Japanese geisha design brighter and the black outlines sharper. We never went under the needle, but we love how Undaria’s omega fatty acids minimize redness and inflammation on our sun-damaged décolletage.
