Westin Snowmass
The Westin Snowmass's lobby overlooks busy slopes

Congratulations! You’ve survived three top depression triggers: Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. You’ve earned a stress-free wintertime getaway.

Our suggestion? Hop a two-hour flight to Snowmass, the Colorado ski village where first-class digs and dining rival nearby (and way-more-expensive) Aspen.

Stay We’re fans of the new ski-in, ski-out Westin, where guests can quaff toddies while looking out over the skiers and boarders speeding downhill. We're equally high on the Viceroy, which boasts the most indulgent spa for soothing post-ski muscles. After January 12, room rates at both dip from $600 to about $250.

Eat This season, the area’s usual burger joints are joined by chic new eateries like French brasserie Ricard (superb cheesy French onion soup) and Asian small-plates restaurant Bia Hoi (the sweet-spicy Thai chicken wings are a must).

Inside Tip If you miss the mid-January slump-season sale prices, fear not--in early February, more deals (and powder) await.
