Well, it?s officially too late for guaranteed by-Christmas delivery, and we?ve still got holes on our list. Luckily, Japanese apparel-and-housewares brand Muji just opened a location in Hollywood with a promise to assuage all our gifting worries. We stopped by on a recent weekday and gave the store a half hour to impress us.

11 a.m. Snagged metered parking on Sycamore Avenue. Zipped downstairs to bedding to grab a snappy checked duvet cover (twin, $59) for the little brother.

11:10 Headed over to a stocking-stuffer table and found a 3-D penguin puzzle ($12) for our niece, and cozy ankle socks for her mom ($19).

11:18 Decided said mom also needs a soft wool cape with armholes ($60).

11:20 Decided we need one, too.

11:24 Circled the 8,600-foot loft, stopped at housewares, picking up beige linen napkins ($7.50 each) and a handsome acacia salad bowl ($80) for our mom.

11:26 Mistook a covered Thai curry pot ($28) and matching bowls ($20) for pricey Heath Ceramics. Took one of each for our sister, the international foodie.

11:36 Finished checking out, scoring a few corrugated-cardboard gift boxes ($3 each)...and could have sworn that somewhere, we heard a bell ringing.
